Online music streaming service Spotify is coming to the Sonos wireless streaming platform.
From the end of September, Premium subscribers to Spotify will be able to access the service’s library of 8m songs via their Sonos systems.
The free Sonos Software 3.3 update will be made available at the end of this month, from which time anyone with a Sonos Zoneplayer, a Sonos controller (including those available as free iPhone and iPad controller apps) and a Spotify Premium account can access Spotify’s music library from any room in their home.
With the latest self-contained Sonos ZonePlayer S5 amp and speaker unit there’s no need for additional speakers or hi-fi equipment, just a single S5, a Controller (which could be an iPhone or iPad with downloaded app) and a Premium Spotify account costing £10 a month.
As well as the UK, the Sonos/Spotify deal will also be available in Finland, France, Holland, Norway, Spain and Sweden.
