The security enhancement for the Sonos Wireless HiFi System with Sonos 3.6.1 software is intended to counter a flaw in the software which could potentially be used by hackers to access the usernames and passwords of services used via the Sonos system.
The company insists that it isn’t aware that any customer data has yet been compromised, but if you’re concerned, you should contact them at http://www.sonos.com/support.
Sonos has advised all users to update their systems as soon as possible by going to System Settings on their Sonos Controller and selecting Online Updates. Before you do so, Sonos advises that you should save any queues that you might need in future, as they may be wiped by the update.
As well as updating your Sonos with this security enhancement, the company advises that it’s good practice to use strong and different passwords for your online accounts.
