Since it already has a successful iPhone app, it doesn’t really come as a surprise to hear that the audio networking Sonos system will soon launch a Controller for the recently arrived Apple iPad.
The app will be similar to the iPhone version but the larger screen will allow it to display more information. It includes landscape and portrait modes, as well as multi-pane view so you can see what’s playing simultaneously in different zones, album artwork, quick search for artists using the virtual keyboard and “point and flick” browsing of albums. It’s main advantage is that there’s no cost involved (so long as you have an iPad of course) so there’s no need to shell out for the dedicated Sonos remote control.
The Sonos Controller for iPad will be available for free from the iTunes App Store in August.
