Roberts Radio has launched its first ever internet-only radio with the £100 STREAM 105.

Eschewing the usual DAB and FM alternatives, the new device will focus on audio available from the world wide web, and it’s compatible with Roberts’ new iPhone/iPod app, ConnectR.

It promises access to thousands of Wi-Fi radio stations around the world and, because it’s lightweight and has a carry handle, it’s completely portable, so it can be used at any public Wi-Fi internet hotspot too (though you’ll need six ‘C’ size batteries if you’re nowhere near a power socket).

The STREAM 105 is also compatible with ROBERTS’ first iPhone/iTouch app; ConnectR. Available free from Apple’s App Store, it offers full control of all functions of the radio including volume and mode. It can also be used to set presets and adjust tone control.

The STREAM 105 can also play back music from your PC via your home network. The ConnectR app makes it easier to sort and play tracks.

It includes a 3.5mm analogue jack so you can play music from a non-Apple MP3 player, and there are ten station presets, two alarm timers that will either wake you to an internet station or with a buzzer, and a headphone socket.

The Roberts STREAM 105 is available now for £100.
