BenQ has announced its new high-end projector, the SH960, intended for viewing in both dark and light environments.

The new machine will be released first in the US and features 1080p native resolution and BrilliantColor technology, designed to produce brighter, more vibrant images, backed by a brightness of 5500 ANSI lumens.

It has a 3000:1 contrast ratio and a native 16:9 aspect ratio with a full 1.07 billion-coloor palette. Its dual-lamp design offers the choice of maximum brightness or an eco-mode that BenQ claims extends lamp life by up to 30 per cent.

H+V Lens Shift technology gives greater flexibility in projector placement, allowing the focal point of the lens to be adjusted in venues where dead-centre placement isn’t possible. BenQ’s own Wall Color Correction feature also allows you to adjust the output for natural-looking colour even on tinted walls.

Mitch Rauch, associate vice president at BenQ America Corp, said: “For many professional applications as well as viewers who would like to enjoy a ballgame or movie with the lights on, projection does not come in a more vibrant and crystal-clear display than with the SH960. We’ve combined extraordinary brightness with 1080p native resolution to enable stunning image quality even in settings where ambient light is difficult to control.”

The SH960 will be available in the US in June for an estimated price of $6,999. No word yet on when it’s coming to the UK.
