Music streaming specialist Sonos is to launch a free remote control app for Android smart phones.
The Controller for Android app will give users full control of their Sonos multiroom systems from their handset, with similar functionality to the app already available for the iPhone.
An unofficial Sonos control app called Andronos is already available but this will be the first officially sanctioned application.
The new app will work on any Android smart phone running Android 2.1 or later and with a touch screen resolution of 320×480, 480×800 or 480×854. It should work seamlessly alongside (or instead of) the Sonos Controller 200 remote control and desktop software.
The Sonos Controller for Android app will be available for free download from the Android Market in March.
