Home media server specialist Imerge has announced that it’s doubling the size of its storage capacity of its XiVASafe storage components to 2TB.
Coupled with Imerge’s MS1 media server, the new drives can store up to around 3,000 CDs or 300 DVDs and the onboard mirrored configuration means an exact copy of all data can be kept on a second 2TB drive for back-up.

The flagship XiVASafe iSCSI chassis holds eight hard drives offering up to 12TBof usable HD storage – enough for 18,000 uncompressed CDs, or 1,800 DVDs – while keeping two of the drives ‘redundant’ in case of disk failure.
Cameron Wade, CEO of Imerge, said: “We are extremely pleased to announce the introduction of 2TB drives within the Imerge product range and we’re equally delighted to confirm that price increases will be minimal, despite the doubling of storage capacities.
The new XiVASafe products are available now, ranging from the MS1 with 2TB XiVASafe for £6,182 to the MS1 with 12TB XiVASafe for £15,904.
