Toshiba are set to launch their own Blu-ray player. After the demise of the HD DVD market Toshiba have been reluctant to get back into the market.
Set to launch towards the end of the year (according to Japanese newspaper The Yomiuri Shimbun) the new Blu-ray machines would be a great match with Toshiba LCD screens.
Toshiba have been concentrating on upscaling DVD players but this has not been a great success, so with their HD screens it makes sense to go Blu-ray.
With Blu-ray disc at an all time high according to the UK The British Video Association, 3.1 million Blu-ray discs have been sold in the UK since the start of 2009.
With more people staying in and saving money at home the BVA calculated that the figure represents a 231% growth in sales figures from the same period last year.
We will publish more information when we get it.
