Sony’s latest entry-level Walkman models, the B and E series, have been announced for the UK. The ultra-compact B series comes in 2GB or 4GB flavours and offers 18hrs of playback (or 90 minutes from a three-minute quick charge) plus a recordable FM tuner and Sony’s ZAPPIN facility which allows you to play a few seconds from each song before nipping on to the next.
The E-series is a 9.3mm-thin sliver of audio/video playback goodness in 4GB, 8GB and 16GB varieties. It does without the OLED screen of the pricier X-series and makes do with a 2in QVGA LCD display but includes a recordable FM tuner, five-band graphic equaliser and a Dynamic Normalizer to balance volume levels as well as Clear Stereo and Clear Bass technologies. It will play WMA, WMV, MPEG-4 and MP3 formats.
Video file format conversion is also offered via the bundled Content Transfer software is included for video file format conversion and Sony claims battery life as 30 hours for music and six for video. Both models will be available at the end of the month, with prices yet to be confirmed.
