Sony was a double EISA Award winner this year with the Sony STR-DA5800ES for the European Home Theatre Receiver 2013-2014, after winning EISA Award for for the European TV with their Bravia KLD-55W905A. Let’s have a look as some of the features of this year’s Award winning receiver.

The Sony ES line-up is recognized for “hand-picked” quality audio components combined with technology specifically developed for the ES models to achieve audiophile quality sound, and here the Sony STR-DA5800ES 9.2 channel receiver boasts 130 Watts x 9 (8 Ohm).

The back panel offers an awesome array of inputs and outputs for maximum system flexibility. Eleven HD inputs, of which nine HDMI inputs (up to 4Kcapable) let you connect just about everything while getting uncompressed digital video and multi-channel digital audio. There are three HDMI outputs that can simultaneously output 4K video between two HD displays, so you can connect, for example, two televisions or a television and a projector. The third HDMI output supports 2nd zone video.

Sony has designed this flagship product to be “future-proof” as the STR-DA5800ES allows native 4K video content to be passed through to a 4K television or projector, and even up-scales high definition movies and TV shows to 4K quality on a 4K display. In addition, it is upgradable, with the help of an authorized Sony ES or Control4® dealer, so the STR-DA5800ES receiver can be unlocked to support expanded home automation including multi-zone audio, lighting and shades, security, appliances…

Sony’s flagship receiver sports a heavyweight design and build but brings finesse to its multichannel performance ensuring that movie soundtracks and music alike are delivered with vivid detail and bags of energy. The 9.2-channel STR-DA5800ES is also feature-packed, offering nine HDMI inputs and three outputs, an asynchronous USB input, built-in network switching and, uniquely for an AVR, video-on-demand courtesy of the Sony Entertainment Network.
