Panasonic announces release of a new firmware upgrade for its DMP-BD10 Blu-ray players. It will allow upgraded versions to read AVCHD (Advanced Video Codec High Definition), designed by Sony and Panasonic to be used in last generation video cameras.
It’s a real handy concept as it works with codecs used in Blu-ray and HD-DVD discs. That means you can now directly view an AVCHD format video directly copied onto a Blu-ray disc.
Panasonic adds that an upcoming upgrade will allow the DMP-BD10 to play Dolby True HD and DTS-HD.
