The WLT68 Series, the next generation of LCD TVs up from the current WLG66, is out now in three sizes : 32in, 37in & 42in. Easy to reference model names : 32WLT68, 37WLT68 and 42WLT68.
WLT68 is the series boasting the Active Vision M100 or 100 Hz device by Toshiba that showed its worth at the last CES. It works on a rather simple and effective principle: instead of refreshing the picture 50 or 60 times a second, we double the signal scanning to make it 100 or 120 (Hz) so as to reduce the afterglow. Other developers chose to use another technique consisting in slipping totally black pictures between the regular ones to lessen the retinal persistence phenomena.
With the copious amount of numerical inputs coming in to your TV nowadays, you usually end up having to buy a switcher. Well, Toshiba has solved the problem by integrating no less than three HDMI inputs (two rear and one side) to the new LCD series.
The specs of these new REGZA family members haven’t changed from those of their predecessors : contrast still at 1200:1 (32in) 1000:1 (37in) 800:1 (42in), the 1366×768 screens come with a component video input and a Freeview tuner.
The WLT68s will all be available as from September at £1200, £1500 and £1900.
