The DAC2’s successor has arrived! The American brand Bel Canto recently announced the release of DAC3 convertor.
This new product has been totally revamped, both technically and esthetically. Tucked into a casing from the e.One line, the DAC3 is neatly fitted and well-designed.
The DAC3 contains the brand new Ultra Clock that is actually a chip holding an incredibly precise clock measured in picoseconds. The Ultra-Clock provides jitter performance 50x better than other clocks. All digital inputs go through 2 jitter rejection stages (the USB input goes through a third de-jitter stage) followed by a new PLL stage which 170 dB of digital dynamic range to ensure transparent conversion to a 24-bit 192 kHz signal for the final digital-to-analog conversion.
As far as wiring is concerned, the DAC3 connectors are the AES/EBU and BNC 750hms, plus the coaxial and optical ones. Also present are the symmetrical outputs with a 130dB dynamic. And the little extra is the USB connector to decode sound flux coming from a computer.
