Its dynamic lamp control system promises 3D images three times as bright as the previous VPL-VW90ES. The high frame rate SXRD Full HD panel is used with MotionFlow technology for smoother motion and to help reduce image blur.

And if you don’t have enough native 3D material to show on it, the projector can also simulate 3D images from 2D material.

It will be available with Sony’s new TDG-PJ1 3D glasses, which are more comfortable and 18g lighter than the previous version, they can be charged in 30 minutes to offer 30 hours’ viewing time.

There’s also a new 3D transmitter, the TMR-PJ1, which synchronises with the glasses. Sony says the VPL-HW30ES will be available from July. The transmitter and glasses are sold separately for €100 (£89) and €70 (£62) respectively.
