Sony has announced two HD PVRs to add to its extensive product line-up for 2011.
Sony SVR-HDT500 Sony SVR-HDT500 HD PVR
The SVR-HDT500 (£330) has a 500GB hard drive, and the SVR-HDT1000 (£400) has 1TB. Both include twin Freeview HD tuners, so you can watch one HD programme while recording another. Neither model supports series recording though.
Both allow you to pause and rewind live TV, record two programmes simultaneously while watching a third that’s been previously recorded and back up programmes to an external hard drive.
The SVR-HDT1000’s 1TB hard drive will record up to 600 hours of standard-definition TV, or 250 hours of HD, while the SVR-HDT500 version should be able to hold roughly half that, with Sony quoting 300 hours of standard definition and 125 hours of HD.
Both have win USB ports for playback of digital photos or music files via your TV, and there’s support for Dolby Digital Plus and an MP3 jukebox function.
Both models will be available later this year, but no dates have yet been set.
