British cable brand QED has announced a new entry-level speaker cable dubbed the XTC.
The new cable is based on the ‘X-Tube’ geometry of QED’s considerably higher end Silver Anniversary XT but uses pure copper conductors. It’s the lowest-priced cable so far to make use of the ‘X-Tube’ design, which features three 99.999% Oxygen-Free Copper braids wound round a hollow central core, then wrapped in clear Mylar. For further protection the whole cable is covered in a flexible polyethylene outer jacket with a pearlescent finish.
A spacer is included between the positive and negative conductors which QED says offers a “fine adjustment of capacitance and inductance to deliver improvements to both imaging and soundstaging, together with a full and natural bass response.”
The QED XTC goes on sale from September at £4 per metre.
