Sony has announced a new range of ‘hidden home cinema’ products that secrete a full sound system inside a TV stand.
The latest models come in three sizes to suit TVs from 32in up to 60in and claim to be slimmer and more advanced than previous models with improved virtual surround sound, three HDMI inputs (and one output), plus 3D passthrough over HDMI between suitable players and TVs.
All three models also have Audio Return Channel over HDMI for simple connection of TV sound to the stand’s built-in amplification and speakers as well as the latest S-Force PRO algorithm and S-Master digital amplifier technology.
The stands can handle 7.1-channel LPCM to make the most of the latest high-definition soundtracks on Blu-ray disc, and will pass through 1080p, 24fps video with x.v.Color and Deep Color.
The RHT-G11 (pictured) is designed for 42in to 52in TVs, and has slim line styling with cutaway corners for easy placement. It has 430W of S-Master digital amplification and nine sound field programs – including movie, drama, sports and game.
The compact RHT-G5 is intended for TVs from 32in to 40in and includes 330W of s-master amplification while the RHT-G15 is meant for Sony’s larger BRAVIA TVs up to 60in. It has 430W of S-Master amplification and like the others it has space to house a Blu-ray player, cable/satellite box, games console and more.
This being Sony, there’s no word yet on price but the RHT-G11 and RHT-G15 will be launched in May, with the RHT-G5 following in June.
