Sony unveiled its new Blu-ray range at CES 2010 in the shape of new 5.1 and 2.1 all-in-one Blu-ray systems.
All offer full HD movie playback, BRAVIA Internet Video and DLNA capability for streaming music (with control via your iPhone), video and pics around a home network. They also have Sony’s HD-D.C.S (Digital Cinema Sound) technology to enhance dynamic movie sound effects and style-wise they’re designed to complement Sony’s BRAVIA TV series.
Each of the systems include DVD upscaling and internet streaming, but only the range-topping BDV-IZ1000W will be able to play 3D content on the latest 3D TVs when they arrive later this year.
The flagship system includes five slim speakers with a virtual 7.1 wireless rear speaker system and 1,000 watts of power. It will also have Entertainment Database Browser to access disc cover art, actor, and production information, as well as IP Content Noise Reduction technology and Precision Cinema HD Upscaling to improve standard definition and web video quality.
BRAVIA Internet Video will offer catch-up TV from Channel Five via Demand Five as well as YouTube and Sony’s partnership with LoveFilm, which will offer video on demand and the ability to access your rental queue via your TV.
The BDV-IZ1000W will be joined by three other Blu-ray systems later this year:
- BDV-E370
Four satellite speakers with 850W total output power and HD audio codecs
DCAC for simple set-up and flexible speaker placement
