Neat Acoustics Petite SX

3 décembre 2009

Neat Acoustics has announced the fourth generation of its 20-year-old Petite speaker range, the Petite SX.

Like its big brother, the Elite SX, the new Petite model features Neat’s staggered port-tuning design, with two bass ports at the back, one designed to have a narrow operating band centred on 40Hz, the other a 50mm port tuned higher over a wider operating band.

Though it measures a, erm, petite, 31×20×18cm, Neat claims this design offers a ‘full-bodied’ bass performance even in largish rooms, though in smaller rooms the larger bass port can be closed with the supplied foam bungs.

The bass/mid driver is a 6.5in doped paper cone with a ferrite magnet assembly and a vented voice coil designed to enable high power handling without compression.

The Petite SX also features a new 25mm soft fabric dome tweeter with internal damping in its own non-resonant chamber and a crossover established individually, by ear. The cabinet meanwhile is of specially selected MDF with bitumen-composite damping panels for extra rigidity and audio inertness.

The Neat Petite SX goes on sale this month in a range of six wood-veneer colours for £1,250, with matching stands available for an extra £203 per pair.
