British speaker firm Neat Acoustics has launched its new Iota speakers at this year’s Manchester Show.

The smallest model in the Neat range stands just 13cm tall, but includes high-quality drive units and comes in a variety of finishes including red, yellow, blue, black and white.

Neat says the Iota “is especially suited to the current crop of all-in-one streaming systems, from which a very high level of sound quality may be attained, but space is usually at a premium.”

Despite their small size, they use a 50mm vertical planar ribbon tweeter, chosen for its ‘superb dynamic contrast and accurate tonal colour’. Next to it is a 10cm mid/bass driver, a scaled-down version of the polypropylene-cone driver from Neat’s Motive range.

The 2.6 litre cabinet is ported, and built from high grade MDF with internal damping. Inside is a simple three-element crossover, with low-loss air core inductors and high-grade polypropylene capacitors. As with all Neat speakers, it was designed by ear, rather than using measuring instruments.

The Neat Acoustics Iota speakers are available now for £650 in satin black or white, with Flame Red, Zinc Yellow and Ultramarine Blue available at extra cost.
