Sennheiser is aiming to raise the bar on in-flight listening quality by offering its headphones as a paid-for alternative.
The company is offering specially customised version of its CX 300-II in-ear ’phones, now called the Sennheiser Ear Canal 300-II Travel on flights by the cut-price airline. The soft silicone earbuds are designed to create a snug, noise-isolating fit in the ear and offer a frequency response of 19Hz-21kHz and a sound pressure level of 113dB.
The headphones will have the usual 3.5mm jack plug, but will also be supplied with a gold-plated two-pin aircraft audio adapter and a selection of three ear adaptors, all contained in a compact travel case designed to fit on aircraft trolleys.
The Sennheiser CX 300-II headphones will be available for a duty-free price in the air – £40 instead of the standard £50.
