Sennheiser’s new CXC 700 headphones include a new type of active noise-cancelling system.

The NoiseGard/digital system offers a choice of three different noise-cancelling ‘profiles’ – once which absorbs low frequency noise, another which does the same for medium frequencies, and a third that combines the two, though it apparently delivers a slightly lower noise-cancelling performance.
The theory is that the different profiles can be applied depending on the environment you’re in, whether you’re on a plane or just surrounded by general city-dwelling din.
Other features include an in-flight adapter and 6.35mm jack, as well as a TalkThrough function that drops the volume level so you can hear people speaking to you, without interrupting the music.
Daniel Chee, one of Sennheiser’s Product Managers, said: “NoiseGard /digital is the consistent further development of Sennheiser’s analogue NoiseGard technology. The possibility to select one of three different modes that are optimised for different environments considerably improves the noise-cancelling effect. Precise filters generate a result that is up to five times better than that of the analogue system."
The Sennheiser CXC 700 is available now for around £200.
