Imerge, the Cambridge-based hard disk media server manufacturer has announced a partnership with MP3 download store 7digital.
The online store will provide Imerge with a branded download store to be integrated into its entertainment systems. Using 7digital’s application programming interface, Imerge customers will have access to more than six million DRM-free MP3 tracks.
The facility will allow Imerge users to browse, buy and download content from Imerge’s XiVA store without the need for a web browser or computer, with tunes automatically downloaded directly to the Imerge.
The service will initially only be available to Imerge owners in the UK and US, but is planned to roll out to other territories over the next few months.
Imerge is also to incorporate GD3’s metadata, which it claims will provide the most comprehensive metadata and cover art system currently available.
As well as viewing cover art and other metadata, users will be able to upload covers to new or obscure CD or DVD titles to complete the archives or correct mistakes.
