This years CES came to a close yesterday and while not a great deal came out of Las Vegas we still had a number of news worthy items. CineNow were at the event filming various exhibitors and hope to get these to you soon.
Highlights from the show were mainly very thin LCD/Plasma screens from Panasonic,Sony,LG, and Samsung. OLED played a small part at the show with news of already released 27 inch prototypes.
Some companies showcased screens with the new cool Yahoo widgets and Dolby Volume control built into the screens.
The VIERA G1 series, featuring the 1080p TC-L37G1, 37-inch class TV and the TC-L32G1, 32-inch class model. Both TVs offer 120Hz Motion Picture Pro3 technology, helping to ensure crisp, focused images for sports and other fast-action scenes. The G1 LCDs also feature VIERA Linkä, a PC input, Game Mode, a 20,000:1 contrast ratio, three HDMI inputs, and a swivel base and narrow bezel design. The G1 series will be available in April 2009.
Toshiba’s 4k 2k screens were an added bonus for the show, expect to see lot’s more of these at this years Expo’s with news from JVC and others releasing 4K 2K screens.
The two-box CELL TV features an ultra-high resolution of 3820×2180 and a networked set-top box that acts as an HD server, allowing for recording and/or playback of up to 6 HD sources and all simultaneously. The screen offers Resolution + Technology and includes an innovative local dimming function. Visitors also saw how the Cell TV goes beyond breathtaking image quality to deliver extremely fast and easy operation of networking functions
New Blu-ray players with Live mode were the main talking point for the movie world.
Pioneer will release several new Blu-ray live players this year including two Pioneer BDP-120 and BDP-320 models and the Elite BDP-23FD are outfitted with expandable or built-in memory to deliver on the promise of BD-Live right out of the box. Pioneer’s players combine supreme features, sophisticated internal construction with a rigid chassis design ensuring the highest quality playback of Blu-ray Disc, DVD and CD entertainment. With RS-232, the Elite BDP-23FD offers seamless home automation design that simplifies custom installation projects.
And as CineNow predicted 3D also played a big part with live sport being played in 3D and various companies showing us how 3D will work in our homes.
RealD technology showed us at the Sony Electronics booth theater, which was equipped with a RealD Cinema System, and RealD eyewear with attendees viewing 3D content playing on Sony BRAVIA® screens. RealD also worked with Sony to outfit the Paris Hotel and Casino’s Theatre des Arts, where a capacity crowd viewed the college football national championship game live in RealD 3D. Presented by Sony, the game was shown using RealD’s Cinema System specifically built for Sony’s SXRD®4K projector.
