7 janvier 2009

Gefen have announced at this years CES 2009 that they will be shipping their version of a wireless HDMI extender.

The Gefen Wireless HDMI Extender supports the delivery of hi-def resolutions to 1080p (30fps) with digital audio 7.1 surround sound and two-channel L/R analog audio up to 10 meters (approximately 30-feet) in distance.

Rajeev Krishnamoorthy, CEO of TZero Technologies commented, “As pent up demand for wireless high-definition video continues to grow, TZero is excited to see Gefen’s Wireless for HDMI Extender product receive such strong positive feedback from consumers. TZero’s Ultra Wideband technology is the only commercially available solution that delivers on the promise of reliable high-definition wireless video, and we look forward to a strong partnership with Gefen in the quarters and years to come.”

The Gefen Wireless HDMI Extender has three A/V inputs and operates as an auto switch, allowing access to any of the three sources using the same HDTV or projector. Sources can also be controlled from the display using the IR back channel or by the local selection button available on the sender unit.

The sender/receiver requires a local connection of two HDMI sources and one component with audio to the sender unit. The receiver unit is placed up to 10 meters away and connects directly to the HDTV display. Both sender and receiver are powered to drive the wireless signal transmission.

Gefen recommends a line-of-sight placement of sender and receiver units for optimal results, but both units can be placed behind doors, in cupboards and behind TVs for a wireless delivery. The HD signal can also penetrate a wall, if needed.
