US company Gefen has released what it claims to be the first wireless HDTV system offering uncompressed Full HD 1080p transmissions.
The GefenTV Wireless for HDMI 60GHz extender system can transmit full HD 1080p video and multichannel audio over distances of up to 30 feet.

That’s easily enough to make it effective for transmitting HD content from an AV receiver to TVs around an average-sized home.
But that’s not all. As well as HD video at 24, 50 and 60Hz, the new GefenTV also supports HD audio formats including Dolby TrueHD, DTS Master Audio and eight channel audio all the way up to 24-bit 192kHz LPCM.
The system comes in two parts and both sender and receiver are powered by external 12V transformers to reduce possible distortion, and feature both HDMI connections and RS232 control ports. It uses SiBEAM’s transmission technology and 36 antennae to transmit and receive uninterrupted data.
The system includes an infrared remote control and is available in the US now for $999.
