UK based Acoustic Energy have released a limited addition multi award winning AE1 a speaker that set the benchmark over two decades ago and continues to evolve.
Using the lastest technology and materials, the AE1 Mk III SE design has been honed and perfected to create the best small stand-mount speaker Acoustic Energy has ever created. Offering Acoustic Energy’s core values of rhythm, timing and dynamic power handling, the new AE1 Mk III SE brings even greater tonal accuracy and even lower colouration to the AE1 design.
Dispite the name of the AE1 some changes have been made with the drive units and crossover. No longer do they use a metal cone bass/mid unit, which was more than novel when the AE1 was first released. The unit used here is a brand new 120mm unit with a ‘curvilinear’ anodized variable thickness cone, an open diecast chassis and a glass fibre voice coil former with a shielded neodymium magnet assembly, where the old one used an anodized spun alloy cone bass driver from a different source. The tweeter is all new, a fabric ring unit from DST, which is also the source for the bass/mid driver, again with a neodymium magnet, replacing an alloy dome unit.
The AE1 are being made in strictly limited quantity with just 250 pairs for worldwide distribution, this exclusive loudspeaker is offered in three high-end finishes of eight-layers. The preimium finishes are Piano black,Pearl White and Cherry real wood veneer. For those demanding bespoke finishes the AE1 Mk III SE can be custom painted in any high-gloss colour for a an extra cost.
UK Price: £1,690 to £1,990 a pair depending on finish.
