Surround par excellence

Pour les anglicistes passionnés et autres férus de la marque Snell, je vous propose de découvrir attentivement ce qui suit. En effet nous venons de recevoir un communiqué de presse du manufacturier d’enceintes, qui nous annonce l’arrivée imminente d’une nouvelle enceinte Surround polyvalente labellisée THX Ultra 2.

Toutefois je voulais vous signaler que l’enceinte ici dévoilée est en réalité un upgrade d’une version déjà commercialisée par la marque. En effet pour ceux d’entre vous qui ne connaissent pas ce type d’enceinte et bien sachez quelles se basent sur un procédé technique, qui permet la restitution d'une bande son en EX ou en ES avec seulement une paire de surround (attention : ce n’est pas de la simulation...).

La raison de ce systéme est assez simple puisque la SR30MP à été conçue de telle sorte, qu’elle arrive à diffuser un double flux audio, sans que l’auditeur ne perçoive la présence unique de deux enceintes. Celui-ci croyant que la configuration écoutée se compose de deux Surround latérales et deux Surround Back.
A notez donc, que le placement des Hauts parleurs joue donc un rôle important dans cette enceinte, la preuve en est que le spectateur se croit immergé dans une grosse configuration, alors que...

HAVERHILL, MA., April 29, 2002 - Snell l'Acoustique, acclamée pour sa tradition de haut-parleurs faits à la main avec des conceptions de bord principales, était le premier fabricant pour à recevoir l'approbation sous nouveau THX Ultra2 le programme de Certification(certificat) pour un système de haut-parleur. Aujourd'hui la SR30MP Entoure est la seconde enceinte du fabricant à obtenir une certification THX et font officiellement partie de Snell THX Ultra 2 ligne Certifiée de produits.

Establishing a new performance benchmark for home entertainment systems, the THX Ultra2 specification provides uncompromising eight-channel playback of any multi-channel program, whether movie soundtracks or music, over the widest possible seating area. The initial Snell home theater speaker system submitted consisted of Snell’s XA1900 LCR towers (horizontal and vertical), the AMC900 in-wall dipoles and brand new dual 12-inch powered subwoofer, the ICS SUB 24. With the addition of the SR30mp, Snell has 5 speaker products with THX Ultra 2 Certification.

"This gives the custom installer numerous options for high end home theater installations,” says David Smith, President and Chief Engineer of Snell Acoustics. “The XA1900THX, either the horizontal or vertical versions can be used in the LCR array, behind the screen, outside the screen or in cabinet. The SR30mp is an on-wall mounted surround while the AMC900 is an in-wall surround for even greater flexibility. Whatever the theater or decor constraints, Snell has a configuration that fits." Moreover, the SR 30mp can easily be configured to play extra channels without adding extra speakers, providing ideal compatibility with 7.1-channel surround processors.

The SR30mp On-wall loudspeaker is comprised of three 1" (25mm) black-anodized aluminum-dome tweeters with neodymium magnetic structure, dual 3-1/2" (135mm) extended midranges drivers with copolymer cones and a single 6-1/2" (165mm) omni-directional, dual voice coil unit with butyl rubber. The nominal impedance of the SR30mp is 4-ohms.

Capable of filling large rooms with ambient sound, the SR30mp provides a diffuse' soundfield considerably wider than conventional dipolar surround speakers that were approved by THX under the previous Ultra certification program. The SR30mp also offers a non-THX direct mode, for a focused direct-radiating surround, that can be easily activated by a flip of the switch. The cabinet’s construction is made from a highly dense fiberboard with a sealed bass enclosure above a unique matrix array that projects sound in three distinct patterns. The SR30mp comes with its own mounting brackets.

The SR30mp’s dynamic output reaches down to 60 Hz and extends upward to 20kHz. Since discrete-surround effects frequently incorporate high levels of low-frequency content, the SR30mp is the rare surround speaker that is truly capable of full range 5.1-channel reproduction.
