ViewDock PJ258 : the first iPod dock projector

20 janvier 2007

Viewsonic make computer screens, projectors and more recently TVs. At CES they definitely stood out with a very unusual product: the first ViewDock Projector.

A few months ago, we were telling you about the first iPod docks that were starting to pour out of hi-tech manufacturers. Ipods now allow you to take your video content around with you and docks themselves have evolved boasting the right outputs for them. That’s where ViewSonic steps in with the brilliant idea of combining screen with iPod dock! The ViewDocks are the first screens “Made for iPod”. The next logical step was to add the projector…

ViewSonic VX2245wm

First of its kind, the ViewDock PJ258 features a built in iPod Video adapter slot. Just pop in your iPod Video, and you can play movies, clips, etc., from your iPod, right out the projector onto a large screen (or wall).

The ViewDock PJ258 has, in addition to the iPod slot, a computer input, and will alternately take a component video source with an adapter, through the same computer input. The projector also has a 1 watt speaker for sound. Viewsonic is marketing this as both a family projector and also for business – a crossover product that does a respectable job at both. More specs: 3.9 pounds, zoom lens, remote mousing, and!!!! A 3 year warranty – in a world where most are either 1 or 2 years!

The ViewDock should be shipping shortly, with an MSRP of $1399, so actual selling price will be somewhere below that…
