Viewsonic’s PJD6531w is a new wide-format 3D-ready projector which the company promises will be “equally at home in the living room or the boardroom”.

It can display a 60in image from a distance of 1.9m in widescreen 16:9 format and includes an HDMI input as well as standard PC display inputs, so it will play nice with the latest Blu-ray players, laptops and games consoles.

It can display films at up to 720p HD resolution and brightness will go up to 3000 lumens, so it should be able to deliver a decently sharp picture even when there’s a fair amount of ambient light.

When used in Eco-mode it has a reported lamp life of 6,000 hours and gets by with only 26db of noise. It also uses a new version of BrilliantColor which the company claims results in enhanced colour resolution.

James Coulson, European marketing manager at ViewSonic, said: “The PJD6531w is our flagship projector making it perfect for watching the latest blockbuster, delivering an award-winning presentation or maybe even watching England win the World Cup. It’s also future-proof as it can handle upcoming innovations in display technology thanks to the 3D-ready DLP chipset and 120hz display and will be NVIDIA certified at the end of May.”

The ViewSonic PJD6531w will be available later in May for £650.
