Sony Europe will soon be rolling out 5 new sub-families for its Bravia range.
The U2000 and W2000-series models of LCD TVs, the E2000-series 3LCD rear projector, the A2000 and R2000-series 3LCD rear projector SXRD.
The top-of-the-range W2000 series is composed of two 1080p LCD models, one 40”, the other 46”. They’re both FullHD, equipped with the Bravia Engine and the new Wide Color Gamut, expanding the displayed color range. Both models have HDMI inputs and TNT tuners.
For smaller budgets the U2000 series, out with the W2000, should be more up their street. They come in three sizes, namely 20, 32 and 40”, are HD Ready (1080i compatible) and include TNT tuners and Bravia Engines.
The E2000 series sports a 50” HD Ready 720p back-projector, equipped with the Cinema Black Pro that features the Advanced Iris function, designed to improve brightness and contrast expression especially in darker scenes. Soundwise, it offers Virtual Dolby Surround and BBE®Viva 3D. They’ve also packed in a TNT tuner.
The A2000 series and the R2000 series are the two 1080p Micro Display Projection sets, a 55-incher and 70” respectively. Each has a digital terrestrial tuner and two HDMI inputs, are equipped with triple-panel projection systems centred on Sony’s SRXD (Silicon X-tal Reflective Display) for amazing picture quality. SXRD is claimed to eliminate almost entirely the grid effect seen on many rear-projection TV sets – to give an image reckoned to be of “almost cinematic clarity and focus”.
The Bravia Engine Pro has the same qualities as the Bravia Engine on top of which you get the noise reduction, color correction, filters and upscaling of 480i, 480p, 576i, 576p, 720p and 1080i signals. This is what you call Digital Reality Creation HD-HD. It also sports Dolby Pro Logic II Virtual Surround and BBE Digital.
The existing V2000 and S2000 series will be improved by December, fitted up with two HDMI connectors and Wide Color Gamut (except for the 26”).
