Some unexpected animation...
Less the 24 hours into our Cruise the big "Event" of the day was that our stop in the port of Nassau had to be cancelled due to what we will just call "turbulences" ...
Dispite the agitated sea conditions, we prepare for what is really (?) the primary objective of our trip anyway (right on!), the technology conferences that were scheduled as follows :An Introduction to Imaging Science
Terry Paullin, Senior ISF Instructor & Widescreen Review Contributing Editor
This excellent presentation demystified the need for, and science behind, calibration of the current crop of fixed pixel and CRT display monitors. (This is a subject that merits more widespread coverage of in Europe...) A Look Into Future Flat Panel Display Technologies & Trends
Peter Putman, HDTVexpert.com
This presentation explored the "trendy" topic of the future of of flat panel displays with pricing trends and the 1080p vs 720p debate. Also discussed areas included the "battle" between as LCD vs. plasma as well as the peripheral technologies hoping to break through the market.
Motion Simulation . . . The Next Level Of Home Entertainment
Philippe Roy, D-BOX Technologies; Claude McMaster, D-BOX Technologies;
Gary Reber, Widescreen Review; Scott Bates, Deluxe Digital Studios, Jeff Weber, WeberWorks
This presentation was about the dramatic advances being made in motion simulation technologies that transform home entertainment from just audio and video into a dramatic virtual reality experience through the addition of motion that is perfectly synchronized to each scene. (This is the "Must" in the US market, we need to see, and "feel", more in Europe !)
After a hard days' work in the Conferences, it is custom on the Home Theater Cruise that the evening is to relax and enjoy the company of those on board in an Event organized by one of the sonsors. Thanks again to D-BOX Technologies for this memorable evening !
Tomorrow the full day is dedicated to the conferences while at sea, we hope... with a bit more calm...
