“SST” is a new Bryston designed circuitry that is at the core of the whole range. The C series is declined in 2B-, 3B-, 4B-, 6B-, 7B-, 9B-, 14B-SST that provide increasing power, while the B26 Pre-amp series has been designed to match all SST amps.
2B-SST base model is a 100 Watts/channel (8 Ohms) designed for the use in home sound systems that require a very reliable power resource. It price is UK Pounds 1950.
3B-SST is a 150 Watts in 8 Ohms and 250 Watts in 4 Ohms device. It costs UK Pounds 2200.
4B-SST is aiming at home theatre or recording studio stage. It is a pure dual mono with each channel delivering 300 Watts in 8 Ohms (500 Watts in 4 Ohms) and over 1000 Watts when in bridged mode. It retails at UK Pounds 2750.
6B-SST introduces three totally independent modules equipped with separate transformer and power supply. It provides 3X300 Watts/channel in 8 Ohms and 3X500 Watts/channel at 4 Ohms. It is priced UK Pounds 4500.
The 7B SST is a 600 watts at eight ohms and over 900 watts at four ohms monoblock design system. The benefit of such monoblock architecture is that one can locate the device next to the loudspeaker to provide improved performance. It can be configured in Series or Parallel modes; the former is recommended for speakers above 3 Ohms, while the latter is suited for speaker below 3 Ohms. It is priced at UK Pounds 3000.
Hand-crafted, modular 9B-SST delivers 120 Watts/Channel at 8 Ohms (200 Watts/Channel at 4 Ohms). Each module includes independent power supply and its own connections. The chassis supplies AC, five power LEDs that indicate each channel status. It is available at UK Pounds 4600.
14B-SST aims at reducing IMD and THD to lower levels. Bryston claims new standards of transparency and musicality for this machine. One sure thing though is that the UK Pounds 5850 retail price does not offer new lower pricing standards!
Finally, the B26 pre-amplifier series has been dedicated to the new SST series. All four models come with lower distortion and higher levels of overloads. Background hash is significantly below audible levels. Glass-epoxy circuits are plugged directly into components to remove wire interaction and signal variation. BP26 pre-amp has a remote control, BP26P comes with mm phono stage and remote, BP26MC with mm phono stage, mc, and remote, while the BP26DA comes with remote and two DAC inputs.
Gold plating is generalised to offer long-term solidity. All BP26 series are steel boxes that reduce electromagnetic interference. Buffered inputs provide for lower distortion and improved linearity from source components. Externally mounted power transformer and MPS2 power supply guarantee a drastic reduction in noise interference.
Price range goes from UK Pounds 2,600 (BP26) to UK Pounds 3,600 (BP26DA).
