According to research company
GfK the positive trend that has been perceivable at the end of 2004 for Consumer Electronics persisted in February 2005 with a "massive" 18% increase of the market value, after a 16.3% progression in January vs January 2004. In February the growth was especially strong for "MP3, DAB and Plasma/LCD", says GfK. In addition,
GfK detected that the
"key growth channel in February was the Independent Electrical Retailers who have expanded their sales of Plasma/LCD products which due to their high average price has helped the Independents to add share".
This comes after GfK released record colour TV sales in January, "at both ends of the price spectrum", and totalling "7 millions units" from January 04 to January 05
