Loewe design features are so famous that one of the top UK specialist magazines could write last year that ‘ it can only be a matter of time before Loewe is entered into the dictionary under “sexy” along with Bridget Bardot and anything produced by Ferrari' . True, but this comes at a price. The magnificently crafted Loewe production sits on the higher steps of the price ladder. Early 2005 has seen the coming of the SL37, which is an attempt at stabbing at the ‘cheaper' end of the slim screen market –well, in Loewe's terms. This last baby comes with a built-in HDD.
An external signal box includes Scart and S-Video, DVI and component options. An optional digital tuner is priced at £250. The 80GB HDD is built-in at no supplemental cost. It holds from 20hrs to 100hrs, depending on the bit rate level the user will choose, with the ‘High Quality' option delivering recordings almost undistinguishable from original broadcasts.
Specifications come at levels that one might (for the least) expect at such price range: 37” visible, 1,366x768 resolution, brightness ratio of 450cd/m2, good connectivity with 3 Scarts, of which 2 RGB, Progressive Scan and High-def compatibility. The MediaPlus HD chassis takes upgrades of Dolby Digital, Online Plus and Wireless Home Lighting. Platinum or High Gloss Basalt finish.
The SL37 is priced in the UK at £6,000.
