B&O sound in the car or on a motorcycle!

The Danish manufacturers, Bang & Olufsen, renowned for their remarkable designs, have announced the launch of a new portable MP3 machine, with 128 MB memory.

It should be mentioned that the Beosound 2 is nothing less than the logical continuation of a policy aiming for the evolution of the brand. They’ve been working for quite some time with a view to regularly updating these products, using technologies stemming from the worlds of computing and Hi-Fi

The Beosound 2 is thus the first portable player of the brand, but also the first MP3 player with such a racy design. It has to be said that B&O have stayed true to form, calling upon their know-how in terms of R&D. We find ourselves with an MP3 player in a round shape with metal finish and a diameter of only 7cm for a thickness of 2.3 cm and a weight of 90 grams (with battery and memory). In addition, the engineers didn’t stop at the outer lining, but integrated quality electronics inside the unit, as well as the following features
- 128 Mo interchangeable flash memory of 128 MB for 2 to 4 hours’ playing time (depending on encoding),
compatibility with these formats - Audio MP3, AAC et WMA,
- Lithium ion battery with an autonomy of around 8 hours,
- Control panel with ergonomic and lockable keys,
- Possibility to update the software via the Beoplayer internet site.


Moreover, we’ve noted that Bang and Olufsen has planned a Docking Station, specially designed for the Beosound 2. This allows you to recharge the batteriesbut also to connect it to a computer (via USB). The aim of this is to be able to download the known titles onto the hard disc. For an ease of access and utilisation during transfers, the brand will supply a proprietary interface to be installed in the computer.

When it comes to compatibility, the Beosound 2 works with Windows Media Player, just like the BeoLinK PC2 (proprietary connection), allowing for the interconnection of machines by the brand.

Finally, the user disposes of earphones, in the style of the Beosound 2 thanks to their brushed aluminium finish.
This new portable MP3 Player is now available from B&O at a price of 762 Euros.
