Microsoft Corona

Just a quickie to let you know that Microsoft will be launching their next media player from the month of September. Better known under the name of Corona, the multimedia player will allow for the diffusion of high definition video on internet.

Windows Media 9 Series, henceforth known under the code-name “Corona”, will be presented on September 4th by group President Bill Gates. A test version of the software will be available the same day.

Microsoft will be planning to get the upper hand over their main competitor, RealNetworks, whose multimedia player software hold 16.2% of the market as opposed to 14.4% for the Microsoft Player according to figures published by Nielsen/Netratings. The new Microsoft Player will offer streaming media with virtually no run in time, as well as high definition images and Dolby Digital “Surround” sound. Users of windows will be able to download the new version free of charge.
