Live from Planet InFocus
The company Proxima which now belongs to InFocus, has launched a new projector onto the US market, based on an LCD light engine: the DP 8000.
The DP8000 thus takes its place in the line-up of LCD machines by the US manufacturer who presented, up ‘till now, one other mono lamp. It should be noted that the InFocus group, made up today by there entities (InFocus? Proxima and Ask) hasn’t veered from the norm in being an exceptional machine capable, as you can see hereunder, of offering the user some very well thought-out electronics.
The DP8000 has thus been added to the already long list of LCD machines. It has to be said that within the elegant casing one can find an LCD matrix in 1.3" poly-silicone, capable of delivering XGA resolution (native) of 1024 x 768 pixels, compatible with standard 4:3 or HDTV (16:9) formats. In addition, the lamp included has a power rating of 270 watts with a life expectancy of 1500 hours, with electronics allowing it to reach an excellent luminosity (3,000 lumens mind your eyes!!!), a contrast ratio of 800 :1 and almost 16.7 million colours.
On the interfacing side of things, everything is available – from simple RCA composite, to the new computer form of Dvi, while not forgetting s-video, RGB via 5 BNC (R, G, and B with synchro H/V separate) and RS232. The DP8000 adapts without any problem to all configurations whether they be professional or domestic. The machine qualifies as an ultra portable, weighing in at around 6 Kg. By the same token one can’t overlook the zoom option or the keystone correction which works electrically on this version.
The Proxima DP8000 will soon be available in shops in the US (official release 15th October) priced at around 6,777 Euros, and we should see it in Europe sometie before the end of the year.
