Advice for decking-our a 20M2 room
Hi there. I would like some advice. I would like to equip a room of 20M2 with an amplifier and speakers valued at between 3000 and 3750 Euros. What should I buy?
Answer
This is the kind of question that’s very difficult to answer. In fact, how can we know what kind of sound you will appreciate? Sound is very much a subjective question. In a way, it’s like art… each manufacturer is like a painter with their own particular style and rush-stroke. How therefore can I know in your place what you’ll like?
in addition, there are multiple combinations possible for the budget you mention. We would have to look at thousands of cxriteria about you before being able to give you a simple orientation based on the technical feasability of the installation. The final choice can only be made by you alone, according to your aural taste and your taste in visual aesthetics, as well as that of your family.
Let’s begin at the beginning:
1/ Who are you? (What’s your status in the Home Cinema world? Beginner, amateur, expert, etc… specify)
2/ What kind of music do you listen to?
3/ What do you want to do with the system? (Purely Home Cinema or also listen to music?)
4/ Do you have any technical constraints? (i.e.: can the speakers measure 1.2 metres high without any problems or should they be small and discreet?)
5/ Have you already listened to brands that you like?
6/ Do you have any equipment you’d like to keep? (a pair of speakers, an amplifier, a DVD player, etc.)
7/ How many machines do you want to hook up to your system?
In brief, give me some information that can help me answer more precisely.
Finally, if you answer by saying: "My name is Cyril, I’m a beginner, I listen to a little bit of everything in music. I’d like to listen to my system without too many technical constraints and moreover I know absolutely nothing about sound…", my answer would be: "Go into a shop and listen to dozens of machines. Form yourself an idea about what exists on the market." That’s all I can answer you for the moment.
