Monitor Audio, the well-know British speaker brand, has just launched its Silver Series of speakers, introducing eight new, super-slender models that will replace the award winning RX series. For Hi-Fi or Home Cinema, the extended range includes two stand mount models: Silver 1 and 2; three floor speakers: Silver 6, 8, 10; and dedicated centre, ‘FX’ surround and active sub-woofer models. While Silver 1, 2, 6, centre and FX retain the form factor of their predecessors, the Silver 8 becomes a full three way design, and the Silver 10 tower offers an up-scaled floor-standing format, featuring twin 20cm bass drivers.

The result of over forty years of Monitor Audio speaker development, the new models benefit from enhancements on some of innovations from the prestigious Platinum and Gold series as well as recent innovations that are incorporated throughout the new range for higher sensitivity and reduced distortion, in addition to new bass, mid-range drivers and tweeters. Product features include Ceramic-Coated Aluminium/Magnesium (C-CAM) drivers, C-CAM Gold dome tweeters, Rigid Surface Technology (RST) mid-range and base divers as well as HiVe High Velocity port technology on all but the Centre, FX and W12 sub-woofer.

The Silver range features a new 25mm C-CAM tweeter design produces much lower resonance and better overall damping, for a wider, more accurate and extended frequency response for greater harmonic authenticity.

Silver 8 and 10 models feature a newly developed, low distortion 10cm mid-range driver, operating in its own optimised enclosure for more detail and a more accurate response particularly when dealing with low frequencies.

Silver 10 is a completely new model introduction, comprising a three-way configuration in a large floor-standing tower system. For the Silver 10, the 10cm C-CAM RST mid-range driver is flanked by 20cm C-CAM RST long-throw bass drivers. The acoustic design is similar to the Silver 8 but the enhanced driver size means that the Silver 10 is designed for larger rooms.
The compact Silver Centre features twin 15cm C-CAM RST bass/mid-range drivers in a familiar M-T-M array.

The new Silver W12 active sub-woofer offers a 500 watt DSP controlled amplifier and a front-firing 30cm C-CAM driver in a sealed box design for easy installation and EQ. A proprietary APC (Automatic Position Correction) system uses a microphone and test tones to identify detrimental room modes and correct frequency response for the room and position automatically.
Super-slender and finished in a choice of Rosenut, Walnut, Natural Oak, and Black Oak real-wood veneers, as well as stylish gloss black and white, the Monitor Audio Silver Series is announced to be available in November.
