Monitor Audio has been showing off its new range of Shadow wall-mounted speakers at CES.

The series consists of three speaker models and a centre channel. The smallest is the Shadow 25, intended as a satellite or rear channel speaker, which uses a 4in Flat RDR mid/bass driver and a 25cm dome tweeter.
It has 84dB sensitivity rating, a max power handling of 60 watts, and like the other Shadows, it’s designed with wall-mounting in mind, but also comes with a metal desktop stand.
Then there’s the Shadow 50, which has two 4in RDT drivers, a 25mm C-CAM tweeter and two flat ABR drivers. It’s intended for use with TV screens up to 50in in size and has a sensitivity rating of 87dB and a max power handling of 120 watts.
The largest is the Shadow 60 which has the same drivers but in a larger cabinet, and is intended for bigger screen sizes.
The Shadow centre speaker also uses the same speakers as the 50 and 60, but in a sideways configuration.
Among Monitor Audio’s innovations for the Shadow series are the high power Neo magnet system in the 4in mid/bass drivers – strong than you would usually expect but necessary to achieve the slimline profile.
Also helping to keep the speakers thin is a floating driver and a special ‘concertina’ driver suspension arrangement, as well as a new proprietary tweeter and the one-piece aluminium extruded cabinets.
Pricing and availability have yet to be announced.
