Each of the curved cabinets are made from a Wharfedale’s own Crystalam laminate made from natural wood elements and composites, designed to reduce panel vibration and sound leakage.
There range includes seven models: two standmounters, two floorstanders, two centre speakers and a subwoofer.
Wharfedale’s Director of Acoustic Design Peter Comeau is the designer. He’s used a new Acufiber material for the cones which the company claims “marries the responsiveness of glass and carbon fibre materials with a self-damping woven matrix”.
The Jade 1 and Jade 3 are both three-way sealed box designs with a 25mm aluminium dome tweeter, 7.5cm Acufiber cone and a 12.5cm (Jade 1) or 15cm (Jade 3) Acufiber cone.
The Jade 5 floorstander is also a three-way sealed box design with the same 25mm aluminium dome tweeter and 7.5cm Acufiber cone, but back with a pair of 15cm Acufiber bass drivers.
The Jade 7 meanwhile is a four-way sealed box design with three Acufiber cones of 7.5cm, 15cm and 17.5cm.
Nominal impedance is 6 ohms for each, while sensitivity is 86dB/w/m on the standmounts and 88dB on the floorstanders.
