Sony’s long-awaited BDP-S780 3D Blu-ray player is now on sale in the UK, along with two new 2.1 Blu-ray home cinema systems.

The BDP-S780 retails for £230 and sits above the BDP-S380, BDP-S480 and BDP-S580 in Sony’s 2011 range.
It promises Full HD 3D images from Blu-ray discs and comes with built-in Wi-Fi networking and Skype internet calling. It also includes 2D to 3D upconversion as well as Advanced IP Content Noise Reduction Pro technology designed to improve the viewing performance of low-res web content. It can also be controlled by a smartphone using the Media Remote application.
Sony has also released the the BDV-L600 (£500) and BDV-EF200 (£350) Blu-ray systems. Both 3D-ready systems include Bravia Internet Video with YouTube, BBC iPlayer, Sky News and LoveFilm as well as two HDMI ports.

They also have virtual surround sound via Sony’s S-Force Pro 3D technology, and like the BDP-S780 standalone player, both of the 2.1 systems incorporate IP picture noise reduction. The BDV-EF200 also comes with a built-in iPod dock and the BDV-L600 can be wall-mounted or stood vertically.
