German speaker manufacturer Heco has announced a new bookshelf speaker with the Victa 201.

The new speaker is the entry-level model in Heco’s range and offers a two-way bass reflex design in a 165×265×230mm cabinet.
The 5in mid/bass driver includes a cone made of long-fibre paper, which Heco claims is a material which offers “an excellent ratio of low weight to high self-damping, vital for the reproduction of dynamics without coloration”. The fabric dome tweeter is made from synthetic silk and is loaded by a short horn “for improved coupling to the air”.
It promises a frequency range of 36-38,000Hz, well into the super audio range, and the crossover unit has been amplitude and phase-optimised to improve integration between the individual drive units.
The Heco Victa 201 is available now in ebony, espresso or calvados finishes for £199 a pair.
