Sky has announced a dedicated EPG for its HD customers.
The new look is intended to make it easier to find the HD channels and will launch on 1 February 2011. In most cases, HD channels will swap places with their SD counterparts to make them more prominent. Sky insists that recordings and series links will continue to work after the changeover.
If you don’t subscribe to Sky HD you’ll continue to receive the same standard EPG, though the awkwardness of the random channel numbers originally ascribed to HD channels to fit them into the original EPG should be ironed out.
Hilary Perchard, Sky’s director of product management, said: "We believe this little change will make a big difference, with customers being able to find their HD content more easily. It will also drive up levels of HD viewing.”
