Each year, WIRED Magazine opens a pop up store in New York City during the holiday season featuring the year’s most “WIRED” gadgets and gear.

This year, Leon, in collaboration with Stereo Exchange (NYC), captured the store’s “Shop and Share” theme by demonstrating the interactivity of custom audio design.

Leon says the challenge was to decorate the store with high-fidelity audio while maintaining the ‘Applesque’ aesthetic appeal of the interior design. They used several pairs of Detail Ds115 Surround/Bookshelf speakers, each one custom built, painted to match the decor (as shown below with silver cabinets with electric-blue faces) and equipped with 5in Peerless woofers and 1in silk-dome tweeters.

Leon’s Detail Series speakers can be custom painted to match any wall colour (also pictured is an early prototype for Wired featuring Wired magazine covers) or crafted from solid wood to match cabinetry or other design accents.

At less than 4in deep, they can also be placed in any room or installed on virtually any wall. With numerous custom options and multiple configurations, the Detail Series

This year’s Wired Storee is at 692 Broadway (at 4th Street), and is open to the public until December 26 from 11am to 7pm Wednesdays through Sundays.

Leon speakers are distributed in Europe by Genesis Technologies.
