Sony has confirmed that ITV Player, the channel’s catch-up TV service, will be available via the PlayStation 3 later this year.
The service will join BBC iPlayer, which viewers can already access via the PS3, offering streaming content with no need for a computer.
The announcement was made at the Gamescom 2010 event, which Sony chose as the venue to announce PlayTV Live Chat, an upgrade to its existing PlayTV add-on, which turns the PS3 in to a digital TV tuner and recorder. The new Live Chat feature will allow you to text chat other users while watching TV.
Sony also confirmed that the MUBI movie streaming service will launch in the UK later this year, offering a range of independent, classic films available on-demand.
