Klispch X10 earbuds get 'i' makeover

11 juin 2010

Klipsch’s teensy X10 luxury earbuds from 2008 have been given a 2010 makeover with a microphone and remote control to make them compatible with the iPhone and other Apple music players.

The new version will be called the X10i, unsurprisingly, and features a three-button microphone and remote system designed to handle the voice and music controls of the iPhone 3GS, 3rd gen iPod shuffle, 2nd gen iPod touch, 4th and 5th gen iPod nano and the iPod classic 120GB. The X10i can also be used with VoIP services such as Skype and iChat on the iPhone and iPod Touch via Wi-Fi link.

The X10i positions its in-line microphone and remote at the yoke – where the two cables meet at chest level – which Klipsch says creates a more natural feel when answering calls and controlling music. The microphone is a 360-degree design with echo cancellation technology, so there’s no need to talk down into it or hold it close when talking.

It also features a machined aluminium body finished in anodized copper, with a full-range armature micro-speaker with a tuned bass-reflex system and comes with a range of ear pads for optimum fit.

Don Inmon, of Klipsch’s development team, said: “These in-ear products are free of compromise at every level. We’ve seen great success with our X10 headphones, so it made perfect sense to evolve the product and start catering to on-the-go users who are constantly listening to music and taking phone calls.”

The Klipsch X10i is available now for £230.
