Vita Audio has upgraded its R1 portable DAB/FM radio with a host of new features for picnics and beach parties.
The R1 MkII still plays DAB, DAB+ and FM channels, but now comes with a leather CarryPack and Vita’s BackPack rechargeable battery system.
The CarryPack comes in black or tan-coloured leather for an extra £40, while the BackPack plugs onto the rear panel, offering up to 20 hours of playback time for an extra £50.
Other changes are a bit more subtle, with performance tweaks including increased power output and some improvements to the audio circuitry, though it still boasts the same single 3.5mm speaker.
There are also dual alarm functions, sleep and snooze modes, plus options to preserve battery life by setting the backlight to time out or turn off completely.
On the back are a 3.5mm input on the rear for MP3 players, as well as audio and headphone outputs.
The Vita Audio R1 MkII will go on sale at the end of June for £160 in walnut veneer or £180 in a white or black gloss.
