Hot on the heels of its recently announced budget range of 3D-ready AV receivers, Onkyo has announced three new midrange models for 2010.
They’re the TX-NR1008 (pictured, £1,300), TX-NR808 (£1,000) and TX-NR708 (£800). All are THX Select2 Plus certified and come with HDMI 1.4a connections for full 3D compatibility, as well as support for lossless FLAC streaming and a USB input for iPhone or iPod.
Video upscaling to 1080p comes courtesy of Faroudja’s DCDi Cinema technology, and each of the models includes an Ethernet port for connection to the internet or a home network. Networking features include streaming from a computer as well as internet radio and streaming services such as LastFM, vTuner and Napster.
HD audio decoding is standard on each of the models and there’s also Dolby Pro-Logic IIz and Audyssey DSX for extra height or width channels.
The main difference is that the TX-NR708 and TX-NR808 can both handle 7.2-channel set-ups, while the TX-NR1008 has two extra amplifier channels to take it up to 9.2. The TX-NR1008 also includes ISF video calibration, an extra HDMI output and an additional 192kHz/24-bit Burr Brown DAC.
A DAB+ radio module can be added to any of the receivers for an extra £130 as can a £60 iPhone/iPod dock.
The TX-NR708 and TX-NR808 should hit UK dealers by the end of June, with the TX-NR1008 following by the end of July.
